Please don't feed the wildlife

t sounds like such a nice thing to do, doesn’t it? But feeding wildlife can and does create problems for the wildlife and community.
  • Providing extra food discourages natural foraging instincts and can be unhealthy for the deer.
  • It lures deer from their natural habitat into areas with high concentrations of people and motor vehicles, This increases the chances of a collision between the deer and a motor vehicle.
  • The food doesn’t just attract deer and birds. Piles of readily available food create a baiting opportunity that attracts predatory animals who prey on smaller animals, both wild and domestic.
The Greenway attracts plenty of wildlife on its own, so let nature take its course and help keep the balance.

Check out the ordinances on feeding wildlife within city limits.
